In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at debunking misconceptions and fostering tourism, Srinagar is playing host to the highly anticipated third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the meeting, highlighting the challenges faced by Kashmir due to state-sponsored terrorism while emphasizing the progress made in countering it through development schemes and effective administration.
Amidst the gathering, participants discussed strategies to leverage film tourism for economic growth and cultural preservation. Prominent attendees from various countries engaged in constructive dialogue, aiming to draft a national strategy that would harness the potential of films in promoting tourist destinations.

With a heavy blanket of security enveloping the valley, the meeting left no room for compromise when it came to the safety of its participants. Aerial surveillance drones, coupled with elite navy commandos stationed on the iconic Dal Lake, served as a formidable security presence. However, the visibility of security personnel on the streets was purposefully reduced, allowing the delegates to experience the vibrant local culture without feeling overwhelmed.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh also hailed the three-day gathering as a decisive blow to false narratives surrounding Kashmir. With an air of optimism, Singh proclaimed that the event would breathe new life into the region and dismantle the claims propagated by sceptics and vested interests. As the G20 tourism working group meeting progresses, stakeholders continue to exchange best practices and discuss strategies for promoting eco-tourism and sustainable tourism in the region. The event serves as a testament to Kashmir’s resilience, determination, and the untapped potential that awaits both domestic and international tourists.
