
Gandiv division of the Indian Army’s Chetak Corps is gearing up to represent India in the prestigious Cambrian Patrol 2023 (CP 23), an internationally recognized military exercise held in the challenging Cambrian Mountains and swamp lands of mid-Wales. This event will see the division compete against 60-70 teams from across the world, testing their mettle in the ultimate test of human endurance and team spirit. The exercise is scheduled to be held from October 6-15, 2023.
The Southwestern Command of the Army informed about the division’s participation through a tweet. The Command said, “Team #ThreeFive triumphed in the gruelling #Cambrian Patrol Competition 2023 showcasing their indomitable spirit and endurance. They will represent #IndianArmy in #UK and will compete against 60-70 teams from across the world.”
While participating in the event in 2021, the Indian Army’s Gorkha Rifles made the nation proud by securing a gold medal in the Cambrian Patrol exercise, surpassing 96 teams representing special forces and regiments worldwide. Despite the harsh terrain and adverse weather conditions, the Gorkhas displayed exceptional performance, demonstrating their navigational skills, efficient delivery of patrol orders, and unwavering endurance.


The upcoming competition has generated tremendous excitement as the Gandiv division of Chetak Corp gears up to carry forward the Indian Army’s legacy. With the renowned reputation of Indian Army personnel in international military exercises, expectations are high for another remarkable performance.
The Cambrian Patrol


The Cambrian Patrol exercise is an internationally recognized military event held annually in Wales. It serves as a rigorous test of soldiers’ capabilities and their mind and body’s endurance. Known as the ‘Olympics of military patrolling’, this challenging exercise pushes the soldiers to their limits as they complete a demanding 65-kilometre course within 48 hours. It evaluates leadership, self-discipline, courage, physical endurance, and determination.
